Everyone experiences stress from time to time, but how you respond to the stress is what really matters. What is stress? Stress is the body’s response to something that disrupts your normal routine. Stress activates the body’s fight-or-flight response, which sets off a cascade of reactions to help handle a stressful situation. So how does stress affect your body? Chronic stress can cause parts of the body to become overworked or underworked, leading to physical and mental illness. It affects mental, heart, digestive, muscle and joint pain, and can wreak havoc on your immune health. So take a stress break by getting sunshine, laugh out loud, listen to music, take a walk, deep breath, and do yoga or tai chi. Practice healthy lifestyle habits. Be active! Eat a healthy diet. Get plenty of sleep. Lean on your support crew. Socializing may help you feel safe. Opening up is healthy. And lastly accept things you can’t change. I’ll see you in the yoga studio or out soaking up sunshine! 😍😎
